You’re doing your best, but something feels off. The truth is, some everyday habits like things you might not even think twice about can quietly sabotage your recovery.

Poor Sleeping Routine

Leave work on time, take breaks, and make sure you’re carving out time for self-care. Your recovery comes first.

Excessive Screen Time

Spending too much time on your phone, binge-watching shows, or gaming might seem like a harmless way to relax, but it can actually affect your recovery. Too much screen time can lead to isolation, procrastination, and even emotional numbness. You might start avoiding real-life connections or ignoring your feelings, which can make cravings harder to manage.

For example, if you’re spending hours scrolling through social media, you might start comparing your life to others or feeling left out. Or, if you’re binge-watching TV all day, you might be avoiding important tasks or conversations. Try setting limits on screen time. Use that extra time to connect with friends, go for a walk, or work on a hobby. It’s all about balance.

Being social is important in recovery, but saying yes to everything can be just as bad as isolating yourself. If you’re always saying yes to others whether it’s social events, favors, or work commitments, you might forget to focus on your own needs. For instance, if you’re constantly attending parties, helping friends, or taking on extra responsibilities, you might not have time to go to support meetings or practice self-care. It’s okay to say no sometimes. Set boundaries and prioritize your recovery.
